History – Ancient Greek Gods and Goddesses. Zeus is retiring!

Good Morning 5JP,

During the first half of the Autumn term, we learnt about the Ancient Greeks including Ancient Greek gods and goddesses.

First, lets refresh our memory of each of the different gods and goddesses using the following two websites.

Task –

Breaking News!

Zeus, king of all the gods, is retiring and someone needs to take his place.

Many of the gods and goddesses now want to become the king or queen of all the gods but have they got what it takes to be elected by the Olympians?

  1. Choose an Ancient Greek god or goddess that you would like to be.
  2. Brain storm on a piece of paper why you would be the best god for the job. Why do your powers and your abilities as god/goddess make you better than all of the other gods? What do you have that the others don’t? Why should the Olympians vote for you?
  3. Use all of the points you have just made to write a very persuasive and convincing speech that you will read to the Olympians stating your abilities, powers and why you are the perfect person to replace Zeus and become the new king of all gods. Words matter so be clever with the words that you use. Your campaign can include posters, chants, catchy phrases and even spy reports. Since this is a fictional campaign, be sure to use your imagination!
  4. (This is optional) Record yourself reading your speech! Make sure you use you voice to persuade the Olympians to vote for you. You could even put on your smartest outfit and get your family to clap and cheer for you or add in some sound effects!

Make sure you send over your speeches to the class email. I wonder who I will choose to be the best god to replace Zeus? Will I choose you?
