Creating your own database!

Today, you are going to choose a topic and create a database around this topic by asking your friends and family different questions.

  1. Create a mind map of different topics you could choose for your database. You could link it to what we are doing in curriculum at the moment, or you could think of your own (e.g. food and drink, gaming, hobbies or sports).  Then, pick one.
  2. What data could you collect around this topic for your database? What questions could you ask? Mind map all of the different questions you could ask around your topic.
  3. Pick 6 pieces of data you would like to collect associated with your topic. These are the pieces of data I chose to collect around our current Science topic Healthy Eating and Nutrition:

NameAgeFavourite food groupLeast favourite food groupPortion of fruit and veg eaten each dayBottles of water drank each dayFood allergiesFavourite meal

4. Using the table attached, or one you have created at home, ask members of your family at your home, message friends or give other members of your family a call and fill your table full of the data that you collect!

Try to ask as many people as you can to fill your database. Keep your database safe ready for the next ICT home lesson when we will be looking at our data and analysing it!
