Today, you are going to investigate how sustainable one of your favourite foods is!
You may choose your favourite chocolate bar, an item from your McDonalds order, your favourite desert (e.g. a muller corner or a Cadbury yoghurt), your favourite bag of crisps (e.g. Pringles or Doritos), your favourite cake (e.g a Mr Kipling angel slice) or your favourite biscuit (e.g. jaffa cakes). Make sure it is branded and something with multiple ingredients.
Follow these steps:
- Pick your product.
- Find out the ingredients that are in your product.
- Find out where in the world each ingredient comes from.
- Find out the foodmiles for each of the ingredients in your product – https://www.foodmiles.com/ . Add these all together to find the overall foodmiles for your product.
- Is your product sustainable? Find a more sustainable alternative for your product with lower food miles!
